9 Kittens & Their Moms Know The Goodness Of Full Bellies Thanks To You

Roughly seventy miles northwest of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, you’ll find the small town of Watonga. Census data reveals only 2,600 residents call the city proper home. But while the number of people in this rural town is small, the population of stray and feral cats is considerably higher. And in an effort to keep that feline populous from rising further, the cat lovers at the Watonga Community Cat Foundation are always hard at work.

The volunteer-based group helps stray cats find their forever homes and provides TNR services for the area’s feral cat population. Caring for all these kitties gets expensive. But thanks to you, Watonga Community Cat Foundation cats like Diane, Aurora, and their nine kittens, never go hungry and get the medical care they need.

Filling Feline Bellies

Shopping with iHeartCats means getting cute and quality merchandise. But did you know buying that shopping cart full of goodies gives compassion too? When you shop with iHeartCats, you’re empowering our partnership with Greater Good Charities because every purchase funds meals and other necessities for cats in need.

The GOODS Program, a pet food distribution initiative in the Greater Good Charities family, has been keeping hungry bellies full for over a decade. And to date, the GOODS program has delivered over 578 million meals to shelters and rescues across the country. That’s more than 6,000 truckloads delivered to hungry animals!

Eleven Kitties Plus Hundreds More Served

And one of the truckloads delivered to the Watonga Community Cat Foundation via the GOODS Program helped feed two mama cats and the nine kittens between them once they were off the streets and in the safety of rescue care. The foundation sees so many situations like that of Diane and Aurora.

“Aurora and Diane represent the life of unowned, free-roaming cats in our rural town,” explained April from the Watonga Community Cat Foundation. “They were living on the streets and trying to keep their kittens alive when they have likely lost many kittens in the past.”

But thanks to your donations and the work of Greater Good Charities, “Aurora and Diane are both healthy moms today!”

And they aren’t the only OK kitties who’ve come in from the streets with help from donations.

“We have been able to save hundreds of lives thanks in large part to the generosity of the GOODS Program. We are beyond grateful for this.”

Both kitty moms have now weaned their litters and will never have to raise another. Instead, they can concentrate on finding their forever homes. Kittens Sam, Carla, Norm, Cliff, Roger, Ronan, Adelle, Ariel, and Arista will soon be ready for adoption too. And doesn’t it feel great knowing you had a hand in bettering these eleven lives?
