Mint Dog Biscuits Recipe
This recipe comes out GREEN. You can make it into any shape you want, but it works great as a Christmas tree or wreath.
Ingredients:
- 2 Tablespoons Chopped Mint Leaves (Can also use parsley)
- 3/4 Cup Skim milk
- 1 Egg
- 1 Tablespoon Honey
- 3 Tablespoons Canola Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Wheat germ
- 1 Tablespoon Brewers Yeast
- 1 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
Directions:
Add milk, egg, honey, oil, and mint to a large mixing bowl and whisk together. Add wheat germ and brewers yeast and stir together until well blended. Mix in wheat flour 1/4 cup at a time until stiff dough forms.
Place on floured surface and roll to desired thickness. Cut out using shaped cookie cutter.
Bake at 300 degrees. If rolled to 3/8″ baking time is 30 to 35 minutes… or until a golden brown.
Tip: After shutting off the oven, leave the dog biscuits in the oven for a couple hours to make sure they are completely dry and crunchy. Then they can be stored for a long time without worrying about spoilage.

Mint Extract Dog Treats
This recipe uses applesauce to keep the cookies moist. And there are two specialty optional ingredients that, if used, can really combat doggy breath.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour (we used 2 cups tapioca flour and 1 cup coconut flour)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves (or substitute 1/4 cup dry)
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh mint leaves (or substitute 1/4 cup dry)
- 3 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 egg
- 2/3 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 4 drops peppermint extract (just a little hint of mint—too much peppermint oil can irritate a dog’s stomach.)
Optional:
- 2 tsp activated charcoal (for human or animal consumption only)
- 1 Tbsp powdered chlorophyl
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit
- Place oven racks near the middle so you can use two cookie sheets at once.
- In food processor, add all liquid ingredient and pulse to combine.
- Wash and dry your mint and parsley.
- Pull off about a half cup of leaves of each and roughly chop.
- Add mint and parsley to liquids in the food processor and pulse to combine.
- Optional: Add chlorophyll and activated charcoal. If your charcoal is in tablet form, you will need to mash it up with a mortar and pestle.
- Add 2 cups of flour and baking soda a bit at a time, pulsing until the dough holds together. Add remaining flour (and more if necessary) until you get a workable dough that holds together enough to roll out.
- Divide dough in half and roll out on a floured board. For stickier flour, you can sandwich the dough between two sheets of parchment paper.
- Cut out dough in small shapes or use a pizza cutter to quickly make small squares.
- Place cut cookies onto parchment-covered cookie sheets.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until no longer soft but not browned.
- For added crunch, when cookies are done, turn the oven off but leave the cookies inside to cool down more slowly.
