I hated trudging outside for the newspaper every morning. It never failed that a neighbor would drive by and wave, or worse yet, someone would walk by on his way to the park and want to stop and chat.  I was uncomfortable interacting with people while sleepy-eyed and droopy, still in my PJs, and with ‘bed hair’ sticking out every which way.  That’s why I decided to give the job of paperboy to my dog Keeper. Chai spent the first year of her life as a stray cat, wandering the outdoors with no home to call her own. Wain was a Victorian-era artist known for drawing and painting anthropomorphized cats with big eyes or felines frolicking in human ways. Wain began sketching cats when wife Emily fell ill . On January 11, a former Australian soldier and Langwarrin resident , Tony Wittman, called The Lost Dogs’ Home in Melbourne, Australia looking for his cat. The time was ten minutes until closing, and staff couldn’t locate the feline. Wittman made an appointment for the next day to pick up his cat. All was good. But Wittman decided he needed to get his cat from the shelter before that. Late that night, he scoped out the shelter from a distance. He left and returned two hours later, dressed in full military gear and carrying what he said was a loaded assault rifle. After cutting his way through a fence and onto the property, Wittman encountered a woman working the late shift with the animals. Rifle in hand, he forced her to her knees. The landscape of Croatia provides picturesque views for its residents, and every day, cat dad Dino enjoys it on a walk with friends. One of their favorite places to take in the scenery is an old church sitting high atop a hill. Just past the church’s graveyard, one can take in a view of the whole town and the mountains that stand sentinel over it. A river runs through the area to complete the stunning sight. It’s no wonder Dino and his friends take this route. But on one pass through the graveyard, Dino’s daily walk was halted by the sounds of tiny meows. He and his friends looked around but assumed the sound was from a nearby house. Coming back from the hilltop vista, Dino heard the cries again.
