Cat In Need Turns To Fire Station For Help Getting Warm

Image
Cats are tough creatures, but sometimes, they need a little help in life. And one kitty facing a Canadian winter night in the middle of January knew just who to turn to in her time of need—firefighters! When the staff at the Steinbach Fire Department in Manitoba saw sweet Ember at their window begging to come in, they couldn’t leave her out in the freezing temps. Ember immediately settled into the safety and warmth, plying her rescuers with lots of kitty hugs and kisses. Facebook Out of the Cold and Into The Bath To find out if sweet Ember had gone missing from a home, the fire department posted messages on social media asking if anybody was missing their kitten, and if they were, could they come and get her. Though the fire department’s Facebook followers proclaimed love for Ember, no one came forward to say she was their missing cat, meaning she was a wild kitten who’d been making her way outdoors and alone. Fighting Dogs Told To Stay And Be Gentle As Tiny Kitten’s Placed Between Them

Image
Two Pit Bull brothers, named Keiko and Niko, were being sold as ‘fighting dogs.’ A kindhearted woman named Tawny saw their post online and knew she had to help. She only had room for one puppy so she adopted Keiko. But then two months later, Niko was still waiting for a home. Tawny couldn’t fathom where he might end up, so she went and picked him up immediately. The brothers’ reunion was incredible. They snuggled up to one another, relieved they were back together again. Screenshot via YouTube Tawny quickly learned that shelter cats need homes too. The woman with a heart of gold contemplated bringing a kitten home to add to the pack, even though she admits she’s not a cat person. Tawny adopted Wasabi and prayed her two Pitties accepted her into the fold. Wasabi was so tiny and Tawny made sure to teach the dogs to be extra gentle with her. Amazingly it was the tiny kitten Tawny had to reprimand to be gentle with Keiko and Niko! Screenshot via YouTube Wasabi fit in so nicely tha...

Kitten Siblings Struggling With Congenital Issues Prove Nothing Slows Them Down

Image
Otter and Bunny are a pair of bonded kitten siblings who almost didn’t get their chance to prove their toughness. At two weeks old, they were left all alone. Complicating their case, both kittens were missing portions of their front legs and feet, while Otter had a protrusion on his head that opened onto his brain. The two needed help, and when Caroline Grace of Baby Kitten Rescue in Los Angeles saw them after a kind cat lover rescued them, she couldn’t say no to bringing the sweet brother and sister combo into her care. Instagram Right away, Caroline saw the kittens suffering from respiratory illness and “explosive” tummy troubles. But despite being abandoned, sick, and missing limbs, Bunny and Otter had fighting spirits and a will to live long and full lives. Strong Spirits ln Tiny Bodies After just a day of medication, love, and security, Bunny and Otter perked up, with Bunny giving Caroline a thank you of big purrs. And immediately, the bond between the brother and sister ...

Rare Cat Born Without Sex Organs Finds Their Forever

Image
Those who spend their lives in the world of felines have heard tell of hermaphrodite cats with both male and female sex organs. Instances of hermaphrodite cats are rare, though, occurring an estimated once in ten thousand cats. But Hope the cat’s story is different as this sweet anomaly has neither male nor female sex organs. Volunteers and staff at the UK’s Cats Protection have never experienced a cat like Hope before. And searches of feline literature related to a total lack of sex organs revealed little to no information about Hope’s make. In fact, a Cats Protection veterinarian explained there’s not even really a term for Hope’s lack of sex organs. Facebook A Rarity Unlikely To Be Seen Again When Hope first entered care at Cats Protection’s Warrington Adoption Centre, a first glimpse by rescue staff and volunteers identified the piebald tabby as female. But a closer look revealed Hope had no external sex organs. An exploratory procedure to look for internal sex organs found...

Stowaway Cat Scanned By TSA Heads Home For A Turkey Dinner

Image
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers have found some strange things in people’s luggage over the years, but finding a live cat inside a suitcase was an interesting first. When an alarm alerted TSA employees to something amiss in the checked baggage at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, the Florida-bound bag in question was put through an x-ray to check its contents. A horror movie moment ensued as the screen lit up red, revealing the apparent outline of a live creature inside the bag among the other contents. Twitter Cat’s Out of The Bag When TSA staff opened the bag, they found not a creature of nightmares like the scan suggested, but an adorable ginger cat named Smells! TSA Spokesperson, Lisa Farbstein said the TSA officer who opened the bag “was shocked” to find him there. We imagine Smells was shocked to be there too! TSA took to Twitter to share the crazy incident and have some fun with cat puns, writing, “We’re letting the cat out of...
